I need runners from these communities.  If you come to Afton on a regular basis or would  like to be the communty collecting spot, let me know!  You will need to bring dresses on Monday and pick them up on Friday.

Cokeville- Carol at the Post Office will bring dresses to Afton on Monday.  You will need to have the cosign information sheet completely filled out.  On Monday the next week, if your dress does not sell,  you need to pick up your dress from the post office.

I want to Volunteer (to shop the presale)

Beat the crowd and get first dibs on the deals when you volunteer with us.  

4 hour volunteers- will be allowed to shop our presale with one guest on Monday 8-9pm and Tuesday 8-11:30 am.

What do volunteers do?

  • setting up the racks, tables, and displays before the sale starts.
  • assisting with drop off and inspection of merchandise
  • organizing merchandise and assisting shoppers during the sale
  • assisting in check-out and cashiering
  • sort and organize unsold items at the end of the sale
  • taking down racks, tables and displays after sale ends.

    How do I pick up my presale pass?

    What else do I need to know?

    • If you are pregnant and cannot lift 25 lbs., please do not sign up for set up or break down.
    • Please make arrangement for childcare, as children are not allowed to accompany you during your volunteer shift.
    • Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes and bring a water bottle.
    • We are unable to provide meals and snacks for our volunteers, but you are welcome to bring your own food to eat during your break.

    I want to Shop

    No more going to Idaho or Utah to pay exorbitant prices for a wedding dress and/or formal wear.  We bring it all together and screen all consignment items to maintain high quality merchandise being sold at our event.

    You can expect to find amazing deals on quality gently used item.  Prices are set by cosigners at a fraction of the original retail price and are frequently marked an additional 50% off on the final day of the event.

    We plan on hosting these sale events twice a year.  Once in the spring and once in the fall.

    Here are some helpful hints:


    • Prices are set by cosigners who are not present, so we are unable to negotiate price adjustments.
    • All sales are finals.  We are unable to conduct exchanges or returns, so please be sure you are satisfied with your selections before you check out.

    • Items that are dirty, show excessive signs of wear, is in disrepair, or have missing pieces.
    • Undergarments such as bras or lingerie.
    We strive to provide high quality merchandise.  Please keep the following quality standards in mind as you prepare your items for consignment.

    • Inspect items for stains, rips, holes, or other visible wear and tear.  We ask items to be in current fashion.  Generally, no more than 8 years old.  
    • Shoes must be clean with little signs of wear.
    Your items will be inspected during drop off procedure.  You'll be asked to take home items deemed unacceptable so please be picky.

    We reserve the right to remove from the sales floor any item we find that does not meet the quality standards.  These items will be marked accordingly and returned to you after the sale.

    The day before the sale, bring your items to the drop off site at sale location. Please make sure you bring you dress on a white tubular hanger.  Monday Feb 8 11:30-8pm next to Splash on 65 Nield Stream.

    Sit back and relax.  After the sale you have the option of picking up your unsold items or leaving them with us to donate.  A couple of weeks after the sale, you will receive a check in the mail for 60% of your sold item.

    Consigner Tag Info

    I will provide a cosigner number, tags and a tagging gun for your items.  Bring a white tubular hanger for your dresses or one can be bought for $1.00/each.  Please be prepared with the following information for each item.

    Donate (optional)
 Each item, not sold, may be picked up or donated at the end of the sale on Friday. You may mark items to be donated Note: Any items not picked up during consignor pick up times will be donated.

    Price
 You set your own price on all items. Price to sell! Generally items sell for 1/3 to 1/4 of the original price, depending on item and condition. Wedding dresses could be priced at about 1/3-1/2 of the original asking price.  Ask yourself "What would I pay for this item?

    Discount (optional) Friday will be discount day with everything ½ price.
 Please be selective on the items that you decide not to discount, since items that are discounted tend to sell better on discount day.

    Description Please be ready for a description of your items. If for some reason a tag comes off your item it will not be sold unless a tag can be matched with your item. ‘Brown full length, assymetrical waist dress’ is better than ‘Brown dress’.

    Size Please make sure you know the size of your item. Dresses and shoes will be placed on racks according to size.

    Cosigner Information I will need your name, phone number, and mailing address so I can send you a check at the end of the sale. Please allow two weeks to receive your check. Please bring a SASE with you when you drop off your items. One can be provided for $1.00.

    Afton Time & Date is set

    February 8-12.  The first weeklong event will take place in Afton next to Splash on 65 Nield Ave.

    Monday- Hours 11:30-8 pm.  I will accept wedding dresses, formal dresses, semi-formal dresses, dress shoes, and accessories (jewelry, head pieces, veils, gloves, petticoats).  Everything needs to be in pristine condition.  No soiled, ripped or old merchandise will be accepted.  The dresses needs to be in current fashion and less than 8 years old.  You set your own price.  Tagging guidelines http://sellmydress.blogspot.com/2010/01/consigner-information.html

    An Idea is Born

    This has started as an idea that I am going to do...someday.  I would like to open a consignment store for one week selling wedding dresses, formal and semi-formal dresses, rodeo queen outfits, jewelry and shoes. It started out because I have bought my daughter a dress for Junior Prom and Homecoming.  She wore them once for two hours (long enough to take pictures) and will never wear them again.  WHY?  Because she has already worn them once.  They are still in beautiful condition.  They are gorgeous dresses that are too fancy for church.  But someone else needs to wear these again.  I've spent too much money on them to throw them away but they are too big to store.  I bet there are other moms in my same predicament.  Wouldn't it be nice if there was one place to sell these dresses to recoup some of my initial cost and buy another dress at 1/2 price.  A place where I knew there would be a variety of dresses available for the next Junior Prom.  A place I could have my daughters 3 dresses available for sale without me trying to sell them over the radio, internet or newspaper hoping someone would call.  Thus, A Formal Affair Consignment idea is born.
